Using iPhone 6s in 2 different countries

I will be spending half my time in the UK, and half of my time in New Zealand. Can I use a UK sim in UK and NZ sim in NZ using an iphone6s?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.0.2

Sorry, just a little bit more info for you.

I want to purchase the iPhone6s on o2 (from the Carphone Warehouse) in the UK. However, when I go to NZ, I want to be able to swap my sim and use a vodafoneNZ sim card.

Will I be able to do this?

The sales adviser I spoke to told me your iPhone becomes locked to the first sim card you put in it, is that right?

If you purchase the iPhone from CarPhone Warehouse, it will lock to the first carrier used. You will not be able to use it outside the country. Purchase an unlocked phone directly from Apple.
