Resolution

This issue may be caused by Mac OS X misconfiguration: if Mac OS X has several user accounts with the same IDs, particularly with ID=0. This ID must belong to root user account only. If you find any user account with ID=0 (except of root) - this is the root cause of the issue with Parallels Desktop.

You will need to talk with parallels for the possible upgrade options. You are already having problems with version 8 and probably won't have a smooth road ahead if you try to stay with 8.

You did not specify which Parallels you are trying to install. You can not expect old version of software to run on the latest OSX.

To go from Parallels Desktop 8 to 11 is Full Price.

From their website…

I found the answer in a Korean blog that works perfectly. Restart the computer in recovery mode by holding down Command+R Be patient while the computer enters recovery mode. Select the language you want to use and then in the menubar, select Utilities, and then select Terminal. In the Terminal.app, type:

csrutil disable

You will see a message that states: "Successfully disabled System Integrity Protection. Please restart the machine for the changes to take effect."

Then reboot your computer and install Paralles 8 without any problems.

If you want to enable the System Integrity Protection when you are all done installing Parallels 8, then reboot in recovery mode as discussed above and when you get to the terminal.app part, type:

csrutil enable

The issue for me is the cost. I just spent $2,000.00 on the latest MacBook with all available options and various accessories, and would prefer to save some money on third-party applications that I have already purchased and have valid licenses. I don't need the latest programs -- I just need what's been working for the past few years to continue working as expected. For those who don't mind spending the extra bucks just to have the latest programs, they deserve to enjoy the latest and greatest. I'm happy just having the latest MacBook. 🙂
