Can you disable photo burst

It never fails...I go to take a picture and end up with dozens. How do you turn this feature off?

I've found this too though have only been getting 4 or 5 shots each time. It's very annoying all the same, having to delete the extra, identical, pictures. You can use one of the volume buttons to take a picture but you still have to be very careful not to hold it down for more than an instant or you will still get more than one picture.

I've reported it back to Apple Feedback, with a suggestion that there should be an option to turn 'burst ' off. Perhaps if enough people ask for that option, Apple might do something about it!

Howdy Tarik2nu,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I see that you're getting burst photos when you don't expect to. Your iPhone will only take burst photos when you press and hold on the exposure button in the Camera app. If you want to take a single photo, just simply tap on the exposure button once.

Take a photo. Choose Photo, then tap the Take Picture button or press either volume button.

Take Burst shots: (iPhone 5s or later) Touch and hold the Take Picture button to take rapid-fire photos in bursts (available while in Square or Photo mode). The shutter sound is different, and the counter shows how many shots you’ve taken, until you lift your finger. To see the suggested shots and select the photos you want to keep, tap the thumbnail, then tap Select. The gray dot(s) under the thumbnails mark the suggested photos. To copy a photo from the burst as a separate photo in Photos, tap the circle in the lower-right corner of the photo. To delete the burst of photos, tap it, then tap User uploaded file.

Take care.

After having got annoyed with bursts, I thought I'd have a look in the App store to see if there were any apps that might help.

Well, I did find a VERY reasonably priced app called Camera+, which had good reviews, so had a look at reviews of it elsewhere on the internet, where it turns out it's very popular and highly recommended. Besides having the option for bursts switched off by default, you can take full control over the exposure and focus can be set seperately from exposure. With live preview switched on this is amazing! Lots of other features for 'processing' your shots too but I haven't tried them out yet.

Here's the iTunes page about it https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/camera+/id329670577?mt=8

Thank you for the information. I was already aware of what you said. I should have been more clear in the fact that I don't want to EVER take burst shots. The fact that this cannot be regulated via software is not acceptable in my eyes.

Then sell or return your phone and buy an Android, as an iphone isn't fit for you.
