Q: Setup Apple Pay and now I have to use code to unlock the phone.

Setup Apple Pay and now I can't use my phone without using a code to unlock it, even for a phone call.

    Hi Ziggy

If you have set up Touch ID, you can enable it for unlocking your iPhone. You will then only need to enter your passcode the first time that you unlock your iPhone after turning it on (some exceptions apply).

Afterwards, to unlock your iPhone, you can press the Home button (or the Sleep / Wake button) once to wake your iPhone, then touch your finger lightly against the Home button (without pressing it again).

To configure Touch ID, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (where you can also configure your iPhone to allow access to certain features whilst it is locked).

I understand what you are saying. However, I was hoping I would only have to use my code or fingerprint when I use Apple Pay. Not every time I use my phone. While this is all very secure, IMHO I think it *****. I use my phone way more than I use Apple Pay.

To send feedback to Apple, you can submit the form here (you should not expect to receive a reply, but all feedback is read):

After you set up Touch ID, to activate the phone you just touch and press on the Home button, just as you've always done it. There are no extra steps required and it doesn't take any more time than it did before.

I understand, and you are "correct." I was just hoping there was a way to only secure Apple Pay without securing the whole phone. I'll setup Apple Pay again and see how it goes. That said, I know of only one shop in my town that accepts Apple Pay. I'm going to give you a thumbs up for answering my question, but it's not the answer I was hoping for.
