Q: How to erase "other" files from the hard drive of a MacBook Pro?

I don't know how to free up storage space from a Macbook Pro. I almost deleted everything from my laptop and the "other" files are taking 492GB of my hard disk. I don't know where to find and erase those files.

This is the definition of OTHER:

You do NOT want to erase all of those files (it is a poorly named category).

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.

    Ciao.
