iMovie 9 won't show stills since upgrade to El Capitan

I'm sticking with iMovie 9.09 instead of switching to the buggy v10, but since installing El Capitan I can't see any still images in my existing projects and also can't add any more.

Help!

Same issue here (I've started a threat a few days ago; no solution posted yet).

I am experiencing similar issues - I cannot see any photos in the right-side panel when I run movies and the application crashed when trying to use IMovie 09 with El Capitan. But I also have not seen any solutions or feedback from the community or Apple - any solutions out there?
