Unable to detect CF card in El Capitan

Hej! I just installed El Capitan yesterday. Today I was trying to mount a CF card using a Lexar card reader but it did not show up in Finder. This is how I normally import my photos, however, this time it did not work. I tried the reader + card in an older machine which has not been upgraded and it worked there. I checked the USB port on the first machine by plugging in a harddisk and it also worked. So pretty sure it has to do with the upgrade to El Capitan.

Has anyone else had CF card mounting issues with El Capitan?

I contacted the Lexar online chat support: http://www.lexar.com/contact-us

They recommended that I use my old machine that still was able to see the card reader and upgrade the firmware on the reader to get UDMA7 support. You can get the download from their server:

After following the instructions in the zip file and upgrading the firmware the reader worked again on my new mac with El Capitan.

Hej, thanks for the reply, not sure how to move the post to the laptop forum, perhaps a mod can help with that. The SMC reset you suggested had a big warning sign, so I ended up googling a bit and found some other post mentioning the Lexar support but without a resolution. Got in touch with them and they helped me. See my other reply to this thread for solution. The problem was specific to the Lexar USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader.
