My dell c1765nfw MFP colour laser printer isn't working since i updated to El Capitan. I've tried disabling SIP and re-installing the printer, neither of which work. Please help!!

Sorry, daisyforever, I was hoping that would work even though you're not using a a Kodak.
How does it fail? Is there a crash? The job doesn't get to the printer. One of the users here had luck with the SIP workaround with the same model:

Start iOS with pressed cmd+r (recover-console)
go to utilities and open terminal
enter " csrutil disable "
restart normal
install dell driver again (*.dmg) and add the printer again
shut down
restart with cmd+r like above
enter csrutil enable in terminal
restart

I've already tried disabling SIP using that method, again no luck!
That's a filter crash that caused by the rootless problem. I saw that you had already tried the workaround, but that's the only workaround until Dell releases new drivers. Can you give it another try?
As a novice Mac user I tried this but couldn't even find this terminal to open. I clicked on everything there, but at no time was I able to enter anything. As I desperately need to use my printer I think the only thing left for me to do is return to the Yosemite OS. Can anyone explain how to do this, pleas?
