No windows installer after reboot

Hi there,

I'm currently trying to install Windows 8.1 with Bootcamp 5.1.4 on my MacBook Pro 2015 (Yosemite 10.10.5).

Therefore I'm using a 128 GB USB flash drive.

Everything gets fine with the Bootcamp assistant but after choosing the size of the partitions (100 GB for Windows), it reboots into OSX instead of showing up the Windows installer.

I already tried rebooting manually while holding the 'option' key and it shows two options:

OSX and EFI boot.

Both options lead into booting into OSX.

Any ideas why the Windows setup doesn't show up after reboot?

I followed this guide: How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support

and already tried different USB flash drives.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Best regards.

Thanks for your answer, Loner T.

To bypass the USB Flash Drive problem I've now upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan.

Now I'm able to use Boot Camp without USB Flash Drives.

Unfortunately it didn't work nevertheless.

Boot Camp successfully divides my hard drive into two partitions (for OSX and Windows) but the Windows installer doesn't start anyhow.

May there be a problem with my Windows 8.1 ISO (Edu Version)?

I've downloaded it through my MSDN account from my university.

The ISO image is on my desktop.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards.

Unfortunately using a Windows 8.1 retail version also did not work.

The MacBook boots into OSX as soon as Boot Camp finished partitioning etc.

These are my steps:

1. Opening the Boot Camp assistant

2. Selecting the Windows 8.1 ISO image

3. Choosing the Windows partition size (100 GB)

4. Clicking "install" (simultaneously Boot Camp creates a partition called OSXRESERVED, so this is going right)

5. After finishing the Boot Camp assistant, the MacBook automatically restarts and boots into OSX. A partition for Windows has been created but it's empty of course.

Is there anything wrong?

Any further suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Let us check what you have on disk. Can you post the output of the following OSX Terminal commands?

diskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt for your password, and it will not be echoed back. You may also see a warning about improper use of "sudo" and potential data loss due to "abuse" of the command.

Here's the output without Boot Camp assistant.

In case you need the output after the Boot Camp progress, let me know please.

Sorry for double posting, but I've finally solved the problem.

I always had the Windows ISO file on my desktop and it didn't work.

Now I've copied it to another folder ("Downloads" folder in my case) and now the Windows installer is showing up after reboot.

It seems to be important that the ISO file is not placed on the OSX desktop in order to work properly.

Thanks for your help nevertheless!
