why does my wi fi connection keep dropping out

The wi fi on my desk top Mac keeps dropping out, but all other apple devices are still connected, can anyone please assist with an answer

typical problems include:


• Too far away from the Router

• too much interference from other devices including microwave ovens and baby monitors

• A router that is stuck in the very busy (and very slow) 2.4GHz band, and too many neighbors competeing

• A disconnected antenna lead inside your Mac.


Hold down the Option key while you click on the Wi-Fi Icon in the MenuBar, and a display like the following will appear:

What do you get fro PHY Mode, and Channel?

For signal Strength?

For transmit Rate?


And very important, how many other Networks do you see?
