Q: Outlook 2016 contacts & calendar sync not updating

Running Windows 10 (fresh install)

Outlook 2016 (fresh install)

iTunes 12.3

iPhone 5 9.0.2

USB sync mandatory due to client restrictions (no Wi-Fi or iClouds allowed)

I have the initial sync of the calendar and contacts and the combined system listed above will not permit an update of the contacts & calendar from Outlook 2016 to the phone.  Phone has been reset, iTunes reinstalled and I have reinstalled the mail contacts on the phone all over again.

The mail accounts do not have any options for contacts or calendar.  I have used the option to replace contacts, calendar and notes on the phone with the info on the computer.  No Go.

My once treasured smartphone is now accompanied with a slip of paper with updated info on it.  Useless.

iPhone 5, iOS 9.0.2

    Correctly stated. What's the answer?

Don't bother buying Outlook 2016 if your goal is to sync your contacts on your PC with your iPhone?

I have no idea what the answer is.  I've tried everything but apparently this has happened before and it eventually gets fixed.  It does however significantly devalue the phone due to lack of support and letting this fester as it has.

And I'll add that even after today's 9.1 update and todays iTunes update this STILL doesn't sync.  No changes and no improvements in three weeks.  Have to look at a Windows 10 phone real real soon.

And I'll add that after the 9.2 update and the iTunes 12.3.2 update and a call to Apple yesterday there doesn't appear to be any urgent need to address this omission.

Following a lengthy series of polite discussions with Apple Support (Case 1038541963) , I was called today by a gentleman from Product Support.  The Engineering Department wanted him to "reset my expectations".  He informs that iTunes 12.3 is not ready to fully support Outlook 2016 USB sync.  Apple feels this is old technology and we should be using the cloud to sync.  Note: my setup had been working perfectly for years prior to installing Outlook 2016; now there are several serious issues.  My emails to Apple document the product issues in detail.

Upcoming version of iTunes 12.4 MAY solve some problems.  There is no release date available.

There is a problem with iCloud contact sync where large contact notepads may be truncated.  No solution for that either.  Apparently it is a management decision to Not Assign resources to these problems.

I am informed that to raise this issue to a higher level of importance, your feedback should be posted at www.apple.com/feedback

    Please do so.

I have the same issue. I have been syncing my outtlook (datafile) contacts with my iphone via USB and itunes for years.  Then I upgraded to outlook 2016, and the outlook sync wiped out my contacts from the phone, and wont sync any of my outlook contacts to the phone.  iCould has no way to sync from outlook to iphone either (only the other way round).

I tried putting all my contacts in a hotmail account, and installing outlook on the phone, but this doesnt put the contacts into the iphone contacts, so they cant be used to make phone calls.

This is a showstopping disaster - there exist no solution to sync contacts from outlook (the master) to iphone.

I see that itunes has an option to sync with "windows contacts", but I cant find what these are - I dont have any. They are not the outlook contacts, and they are not the windows ID email's contacts either, so this is not going to work.

iTunes 12.4 will sync with Outlook 2016 but you have to have an MSI install not a click to run install which is by far the most common.  Still a broken feature in my mind.

I refuse to reinstall Office just to get iTunes to work.  Check this out -  If you can’t sync your Outlook contacts and calendars to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using iTunes for Windows - Appl…

so my only option is to use icloud to sync my calendar.  This seems very convoluted to me.

When I purchased my Windows 10 PC I auto set up my Outlook 365 (I presume this is the 'click to run' mentioned above) and it failed to synch.  Once I re-set up manually synching began again.

August 2016 and still not fixed. The iPhone is supposed to be a smart phone, and I've found the calendar and contacts to be incredibly useful tools for my phone. Please fix this Apple. You normally do it better than anybody else, but not this time.
