How do I connect an external Vodaphone internet modem to a Macbook Air

Hi,

I am in Ghana with a Macbook Air 13" and need to connect to the internet.

I have a Vodaphone USB/Pendrive/dongle (people call it different things) Modem.

How do I get my mac to recognise this external usb modem so I can get online?
