Storage in iPhone 6s question

I got a 16GB iPhone 6S and downloaded 4 apps just spending trackers, youtube and whatsapp. Added 18 songs, I do not have any pictures on the phone and the used storage shows 1.7 GB used. I do not understand where the storage is gone. I added the space taken by individual apps from usage in setting and got a total of 364 MB.

1.7GB is showing instead on 0.3GB, does anyone know why its showing such high usage ??

You can find more detailed usage information in settings / general.

Select storage & icloud usage.

Select manage storage in the storage section.

When you click on apps, you will be shown the size of the documents & data that has been stored on your iPhone by that app.

I am using iOS 9.0. The options to navigate to the storage details may be a bit different if your iPhone's iOS version is different.

Hi ajstar34,

The reason your iPhone 6s says that is because iOS and other things that are part of your phone or pre installed apps take up storage too. I personally am VERY disappointed that the pre installed apps take up storage. Apple was once sued for it.

You might want to clarify though that the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed by the courts (I assume you are referring to the iPod suit of 2007). The judge determined that Apple was not guilty of the allegation that false or misleading information had been conveyed in their marketing material.
