External Microphone Not Detected..!?!

Hey Guys!

So I recently updated to OS X El Capitan and my external microphone doesn't seem to be detected. I tried a couple of them and could not get them to work.

They worked perfectly fine on Yosemite but after the update they don't, although they never seemed to work on Windows 10 through Bootcamp 6...

Any Ideas why? Any Fixes..?

I just realised that if I connect the only the microphone...The Sound tab in system preferences detects it as a Headphone and and my Audio doesn't work either because the OS is trying to play the Audio through my Mic..!?!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11), Windows 10 through Bootcamp 6

Incase anyone is looking for the answer, I just purchased an antlion modmic 5 to attached to my Sennheiser HD598CS headphones and am using the Sennheiser PCV 05 adapter. The way I got it to work was in audio midi setup, select the built-in microphone input and change the format to 2 Ch 24-bit Integer 48 kHz. This could be a specific case, but I thought I'd share it in case you were still looking.

The problem is that my microphones isn't detected in Mac either after updating to OS X 10.11 El Capitan.

WHen I connect my microphone separately ,its being detected as a headphone on Mac

My mic and headphone have 2 cable converted to one through an Audio Splitter...

and nd no I don't have any unknown devices in my Device manager..

it just says Internal Micrphone in the Recording Tab and nothing else...

Do you see a faint red light in the Audio jack?

What year/model is your Mac? Does it have two input jacks - one each for a headset and microphone? Can you post an image of the Audio splitter or a link to item description?

I have a very similar situation on my MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display, OS X El Capitan - system doesn't detect microphone as Sound Input. I'm using combo jack phone headset with 3 rings on jack. I also tried with iPhone headset - same result. Internal microphone is the only one that is detected. When I use USB headset it works fine.

Am I doing something wrong or Apple's combo jack port is simply so broken?

Thanks!
