My mac is starting in OS X Utilities page where it says either run disk utility, restore from time machine or re-install OS X. My Macintosh internal hard drive seems to have errors which I found out after clicking on verify disk but not able to repair it from there. Before reinstalling OS X, I need to take backup of my data which is super crucial since it has my clients data and unfortunately I dont have a backup of it.

1) Currently, creating a disk image of my hard drive using Disk Utility and hoping it will successfully be restored on an external hard drive. The process is taking long and I have no idea whether it will be successful or not.

2) Before re-installing I want to take backup. I have a Macbook (no thunderbolt), is there any way to take backup wirelessly. Please Help!
