itunes 12.3 syncing problems on mac OS 10.11

Hi,

Itunes 12.3 doesn't sync my iPhone 6 on iOS 8.3 or my iPod touch 5th gen on iOS 8.3. During syncing I get a notification that it cannot sync the device, as it is unplugged, mind you, I am syncing via an USB cable.

I have seen others with the same problems, for which there is a fix, but these all were on Windows computers. I haven't seen an answer for the problems on Macs.

Hopefully someone can help me on this?

Is this the original Apple cable? Some third party cables only transfer power and no data signal.
