Q: Ethernet cable not connected

HI, I moved to Yosemite 10.10.5 and since then cannot use the ethernet connection anymore. The cable is well plugged in, still I get the message in Network 'Ethernet not connected'. I have tried to turn off/on the wifi, rebooted the mac, no change at all and could not see a solution in the community. I would need to have the Ethernet connection working properly. Any idea would be much appreciated. Thank you.
