Q: if i store items on iCloud, does this mean that i can delete those files from my computer (photos and such) and it won't delete it from my iCloud?

    Sorry but no it does not. Apple does not currently offer a cloud-only storage option. If you use either iCloud Photo Library or iCloud Drive and delete the local copy then the copy on iCloud will also be deleted. If you are using the Photos app on a Mac computer with iCloud Photo Library, there is an option in Preferences to Optimize Storage which will keep a full-resolution version of the photo on iCloud and a smaller version on the Mac if the space is needed.

     

    There are 3rd party cloud services which do have options for cloud-only storage. They include Dropbox and OneDrive.
