HELP! I think I have a virus or something...

I have noooooo clue how I got it, but I think MacKeeper found it's way onto my computer. Every time I try to type or click on something in Safari, a new tab opens up with something like, "Get rich fast!" or "Get an iPhone 6! Free!" Y'know, the sketchy "you've won!" sites that steal your personal information when you give it to them. I've downloaded Bitdefender Virus Scanner but it's found nothing... Please please please help.

The Macbook Pro was purchased around 2007-2008, but it's operating system is currently OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Here's some screenshots of the kind of tabs that have popped up: http://puu.sh/kOHXD/d993276644.png http://puu.sh/kOHVn/f365395ff6.pnghttp://puu.sh/kHdvQ/a5aa45e4a6.pnghttp://puu.sh/kOHVn/f365395ff6.png

You inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it.

For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Apple's instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

Review your Gatekeeper settings: OS X : About Gatekeeper - Apple Support. Gatekeeper is designed to help prevent you from inadvertently installing garbage software.

MacKeeper is not installed.

Uninstall "BitDefender". It is capable of nothing beneficial.
