how to increase menu bar font size?

I just updated to El Capitan. The top menu bar font size is much smaller than the previous version.

How can I increase the font size of the top menu bars? The only solution I see on the forums is to download a third-party app. Surely that cannot be correct?

Thank you.

You are correct the menu bar text IS smaller and It WAS bigger in the last version. In fact I made it so it was much bigger so I could easily see it. And i can't do it in el capitan either. That was a very snide response your got just wanted to say you are not alone.

I moved to the next screen resolution and that solved the issues he stated above. It's not ideal and apple really should allow you to make the menu bar text size larger.

Kappy,

Your response to the OP's inquiry reveals seems insensitive to the need here -- that being an accessibility issue. If you are unable to offer assistance with regard to a legitimate need for a member of the user community, I would suggest you either enrich your own knowledge of the issue (if you are motivated to respond), or simply pass over the discussion, as opposed to attempting to shame a person whose vision requirements necessitate an accessibility question.

Indeed, the menu bar, for exactly the same reasons as the tool bar, DOES need a scalability option, for exactly the same reason: Accessibility.

My eyes are struggling with the tiny desktop menu fonts as well. The notion to reduce my MacBook Pro's screen resolution as the "fix" is as ludicrous as the old-time magnifying lenses placed over antique TVs with 10" CRTs to give them a "big screen" ... the image may appear larger, but so do the lines and video noise as well.

For simply increasing the font sizes and other desktop elements, this has been part of the Window's OS for a couple of decades, to not have this in OSX, Apple must either be out-right stubborn or else working to retain some copyrighted "look and feel" of their desktop, the user be darned ...

So, what is that 3rd party APP that can fix this ... would that be ONYX or something similar? Thanks.
