Replace Previously Purchased iTunes Music

I have many tracks that I've purchased from the first generation of iTunes that I would love to replace with today's current higher bit rated music that are non DRM'd. Many tracks are DRM locked with a bitrate of 128 Kbps. Does anyone know, if iTunes allow users to upgrade their tracks to the current non DRM with higher bit rates? I've already upgraded my personal music to ALAC, now I like my purchased tracks to be better than 128 kbps.

** OS 10.11 / Mac Mini 2012 / iTunes ver 12.3.0.44 **

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11), External optical used: LG.

Yes. The method to upgrade is to subscribe (at least temporarily) to iTunes Match. See this document =>

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1711

and look at the section on "To upgrade your music to iTunes Plus, follow these steps on your computer."

Sure. let us know how it goes.

Not sure if this was part of your question, but there used to be a way to upgrade individual tracks for 30 cents apiece. That program was canceled in 2012 when iTunes Match was launched.
