Q: Podcasts App keeps crashing

I updated my iPhone 5s to 9.0.2 the latest operating system. Now whenever I open my Podcasts app it immediately crashes after a few seconds. I have restarted my phone, I have checked for any software updates (there are none for the Podcasts app), I listen to podcasts all the time and would love to fix this issue as soon as possible.

Same - still not fixed after several weeks of this abysmal step backward. Very disappointed.

The reverse for me - updating to 9.0.2 fixed my Podcasts app crashes. Might be some sort of general iOS instability that has nothing to do with a specific system bug. (People who erase and start from scratch with a "clean" iOS seem to not have the problem.)

I had the same problem - after a forced update (not sure what for) my podcast app stopped working.  I tried everything - hard reboot, thermonuclear option - completely erase all and re-load from cloud. Upgraded to ios 9.1 - nothing.  podcast version 2.3 still not working - crashes after a few seconds.

So here's what's working so far - switch to airplane mode, then launch podcast app.  Hang out playing what's already downloaded for a while.  If all seems to be going well, switch airplane off and play from feeds.  It's working so far.  But who knows whether it will mess up again.

I hate the new podcast view though - it was so much simpler before.  Hope this helps you.

Since making the innitial post nothing has changed. My podcast app - which I LOVED  before is still crashing after just a few seconds. Puting it in airplane mode does seem to allow it to stay on without crashing, but unless I have a podcast already downloaded it is not working. I started using Stitcher as an alternative to the native podcast app and I am able to listen to my podcasts that way.  I am not thrilled with Stitcher, I liked my old podcast app. Now it has a new user interface and is harder to use, so I may keep Stitcher until Apple improves their version and stops this crazy crashing business with their own app on their own system. I am a Mac guy all the way, but have been dissapointed by this turn of events.

Thanks for your input and comments.

Exact same problem here, running Podcasts 2.3, IOS 9.1 on an Iphone 4,1. It works fine if I turn Wi-Fi off, like one of the posters suggested here, but as long is Wi-Fi is ON, the app crashes within a few seconds of starting it. Sometimes I can barely play a few seconds of a podcast before it crashes. It throws a Jetsam Event in Diagnostics everytime it crashes, in case this helps anybody.

I've found the WiFi trick to be helpful, but still struggle to understand why they haven't devised a fix alreadY. Surely thousands upon thousands are affected, right?

I too would like to hear why they thought shrinking and then cluttering the podcast list with redundant information was a good idea. Why do I need to see the text description every time? I can't see the tiles as clearly as before; and as for those descriptions, I already know what the podcast is about, which is why I subscribed. Baffling.

This might have been broken and fixed in 9.0.2, but appears to be broken again in 9.1.  I can listen to existing podcasts in Airplane mode, but there appears to be a problem when the app is downloading new podcasts.

¿How can this post be marked as solved when the entire thread is one big repetition of "This has not been solved"?
