Q: Family sharing question

My wife and I each have our own iTunes accounts, from which we have bought apps and music.

I have been using Apple Music and just bought a family subscription. We set up up Family Sharing on our devices (Macs, iPhones and iPads) as instructed.

Some questions:

1 - Does my wife have to be signed in to my Apple ID to be able to share my purchased music?

2 - If she does so, does she lose all her Apps, because she is now connected to a different account?

3 - I have added lots of stuff from Apple Music to my devices. Can my wife access my Apple Music or only purchased stuff?

Any advice would be appreciated...

1 - She does not have to be signed in with your ID.

Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT201060 - "Family Sharing makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share each other’s iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases without sharing accounts. Pay for family purchases with the same credit card and approve kids’ spending right from a parent’s device. And share photos, a family calendar, and more to help keep everyone connected."

Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/HT201085 - "With Family Sharing, family members get immediate access to each others’ music, movies, TV shows, books, and apps, and can download them to their own devices any time they like.*" "* Not all content and content types are available in all countries. All family members must use the same iTunes Store country or region. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. Apps can be downloaded to any devices the family member owns or controls.

If you don't see your family's shared content - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5449  Also: http://apple.stackexchange.com/a/146077  - quit iTunes Store and App Store apps and start again.

2 - Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing - Apple Support - http://support.apple.com/HT203046

3 - Apple Music is separate unless you set up a family subscription.

    Hmmmm...

One of the Apple Support pages says:

"Make sure that you're signed into the iTunes Store using the same Apple ID that you selected for sharing content with your family."

This contradicts what you first said.

I did a test and signed in on my wife's iPad using MY Apple ID and all my purchased music appeared. When I signed back in with her Apple ID, all of my stuff was no longer available, despite the fact that Family Sharing is on.

We tried quitting all apps and restarting but it still won't work. We're in the same country and fulfil all the conditions required.

Also, yes, I did set up a Family Subscription for Apple Music.

When we go to Settings/App and iTunes Stores and she signs in on my account, then Apple Music works on her iPad. When she's signed in with her Apple ID, then Apple Music asks her if she wants to start a 30-day free trial, even though Family Sharing is enabled.

    It's just a mess.....
