Unsupported in any version of Pages. It is either the shift key, or download the free collection of Services known as WordService. It has a service called Initial caps of sentences, that when you select one or more sentences that are all lower case, it will instantly convert the first letter of every selected sentence to a capital letter.

WordService is in the OS X App Store. Once it is downloaded, it will install several services into System Preferences : Keyboard : Shortcuts : Services. These will be named WordService: Initial Caps Of Sentences, Sort Lines Ascending, etc. You must enable the ones that you want to use.

When you have selected text in Pages, (or any other text-based application), you visit the Pages menu, and from the Service sub-menu, click WordService: Initial Caps Of Sentences.

A WordService application is also available in your Launchpad that provides a Help button that opens Preview with a PDF describing each of the WordService Services.

Many of us use WordService.

Unsupported in any version of Pages 5. It is either the shift key, or download the free collection of Services known as WordService. System Preferences panel:

Keyboard icon

  1. Shortcuts tab
  2. Services category
    1. Scroll down in right panel until you see the WordService: items
    2. Check the WordService: items you want accessible via an Application's Services menu

When you click the Help button of the WordService application, disregard the Installing and Updating section as this is for an older, WordService application that was available before the App Store version.

When you choose to get the WordService package from the OS X App Store, the Service items are automatically installed (but not enabled) as part of the download process, and will appear in the Services category listings inside the Keyboard System Preferences panel. I have directed others to download this from the OS X App Store, and no one has reported that they couldn't find these items afterward.
