Q: How to manually switch to integrated graphics on 15" MBP?

Hey!

I recently bought a 15" MacBook Pro with an AMD R9 M370X and an Intel Iris Pro graphics card.

I usually use the AMD card for most applications and it runs well, but some applications do not require anywhere near the power that the Iris Pro is capable of, and yet, the computer uses the AMD card.

In Photoshop for example, I sometimes do simple tasks that don't require the AMD card, and sometime things that do require higher-end graphics. I prefer the Iris card sometimes because of the small increase in battery life, and the computer tends to get loud and warm with the AMD card in use.

Is there a way to easily disallow and allow softwares to use the AMD card?

I am aware that there is an option to get the computer to only use the AMD card, but not the other way around, such as the following: How to switch graphic card Macbook Pro

I understand that which graphics card the software uses is in some sense written into the software, and I know how to see what card each software use.

I read around and didn't seem to find much apart from: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/qa/qa1734/_index.html which is dated and relatively complex.

Set graphics performance on MacBook Pro - Apple Support did not help.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!
