Q: Unwanted tabs opening and redirecting on Safari and Chrome
Hello,
Could anyone please help me with a web browser redirect virus that seems to have infected my computer?
From a couple of days ago, on both Safari and Chrome, I am being redirected to an unwanted new tab opening when I click anywhere on a page I am browsing. This happens just about every time I click anywhere on the browser page: from links to any blank space on the page. The link usually starts out as something else, but quickly reads, "www.adnetworkperformance.com ... " This is absolutely crippling and paralyzing to the point that I do not wish to use my computer anymore.
I have already inspected all the extensions installed on both browsers (on Safari, I had none installed; on Chrome, I did not find any unwanted/suspicious extensions).
When I've googled for solutions, they seem to point to installing SpyHunter or RegHunter, but for PCs. I could not find solutions for Mac computers. This also leads me to believe that this particular virus infects PCs but less so Macs, in which case, why/how did my computer become exposed? In my 10+ years of using Apple computers, I have not encountered a virus before. I am based in Korea now, in case that makes a difference to potential solutions.
Thank you so much in advance.
