just installed magic mouse 2 it connects just fine but it will not gesture in any way.
Attempt to go into preferences but can't get into gesture for the mouse?

The problem is that you're running 10.10. You must run 10.11 for it to work properly:

Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer with OS X v10.11 or later https://support.apple.com/kb/SP730?locale=en_US
Make sure you backup before upgrading, and see http://roaringapps.com/apps for which apps might not work or which need to be updated.
It would be best to figure out if this is software or hardware problem:
- create a fresh user and see it if works there
- if the above does not try try another magic mouse 2 (I guess you can try with help of Apple Store employees if you don't have a second one)

Same problem. Did free OS update to Sierra 10.12.4 worked just fine right away
I have Sierra 10.12.5 and my gestures still aren't working. The only thing that works is the scroll but just not the zoom or the back feature.
