launchctl(2) burning CPU at boot

Hey ladies and gents,

I have a mid 2012 Mac Pro 3.2Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon with 14Gb of 1066 MHz DDR3 and booting from an SSD running Mavericks. The reason why I haven't switched OS is because Canon didn't update an App fast enough and I haven't gotten around to make the switch.

In any case, I have a Wacom Intous Pen and Touch Medium that had an update a little while ago. It might be a coincidence, but the I noticed a significant lag while booting up the OS as well as the fans running at full speed after the update was successfully done. I've tried to pinpoint the problem, but so far, the only clue is the notice I got from booting in Verbose Mode.

The message that appeared was

process launchctl(22) thread 340 caught burning CPU! IT used more than 50% CPU (Actual recent usage: 97%) over 180 seconds. thread lifetime cpu usage 90.021893 seconds, (09.941075 user, 0.0000018 system ledger info: balance: 900009449

I may have gotten some of the time digits wrong as I couldn't write it down that fast, but does any one have any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm afraid that it may cause problems down the line and I need this computer to work for the next 2 weeks non-stop.

I can do a clean install and move on to El Capitan as well...but I'm not sure if the problem will persist post OS install.

Any help appreciated!

I have been seeing the same message when I boot on a 2011 MBP. I used the Wacom Tablet Utility to remove the tablet software and the launchctl[2] burning CPU message was gone and boot time was much faster. When I reinstalled the Wacom software, the launchctl[2] burning CPU message and slow boot returned. I am going to try installing an older version of the Wacom drivers to see what happens.

Yup, it was what I suspected, but thanks for confirming it Klaemoer! (you can tell I haven't had the time to troubleshoot the issue since I first posted this)

I wonder how many people had this issue after the latest update. Fun thing is that the Wacom Desktop Center doesn't see an additional update, even after installing the previous version (6.3.11-3a).

Thanks again, man!
