many photos in iPhoto have turned into thumbnails. How do I get regular size back?

I have a Macbook Pro with retina display. It is one year old and I am using Yosemite OS X 10.10.5. Going through my photos I see that hundreds of my photos have become thumbnail prints. Don't know how that happened but I want my original size prints back. How do I get them normal size again?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:

what system are you running? 10.10.5, right?
what version of iPhoto are you running? Or are you running the new Photos app?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
did you experience any incident on the Mac just prior to noticing the problem? If so what?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?

how much free space on your boot drive?
do you have a backup copy of the library from before this problem occurred?

that can only happen through user error - restore your backup from before this happened
