Airprint. Why won't it work?

Okay... am I missing something here about how AirPrint 'just works'?

Our printer is on Apple's AirPrint list - Lexmark CS419dn

It is connected by ethernet cable to our router.

All of the Macs in the house print to it via wifi no problems

However... none of our iDevices (iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPad Mini) can see the printer or print to it.

Why not? I thought AirPrint was supposed to be able to do this sort of thing effortlessly?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.2

Thank you Brenden dv but I have been through all of Apple's support material before I posted here.

As I said - in summary -

- the printer is AirPrint 'approved'

- the printer is connected to the wifi router via ethernet

- multiple Macs on the network use the printer daily via wifi with no issues

- no iDevice can see the printer
