As for converting pdf to jepg, try this tool https://lightpdf.com/pdf-to-jpg, drag your PDF file into the file box, then it will be converted immediately.
Are you opening the PDF you exported from Pages in Preview? The conversion to jpeg is done in Preview.
Apparently this doesn't work anymore. The only options now are pdf and pages

Peggy there is a save PDF as jpeg option under the print to PDF button in the print dialog. Whether that was a an action added after installation, I don’t know because I have had it too long to remember.

use the Preview to export the PDF to jpeg, but it seems doesn't handle with all pages in PDF file, you have to export the PDF page one by one. The pages also support export to PDF file, it is very easy, click export, click PDF.
