Q: Imac 27 inch medio 2010 won't enter target display mode

I've recently bought a Thunderbolt cable from a Apple Partnered store, for use with my old Imac 27 inch medio 2010.

The reason i bought the cable was, to use my imac as an external display.

I connected it to my newer MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, as it is instructed  on Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support.

However, as I tried, my imac did not enter Target Display Mode...

I have pressed Command + FN + F2 many times, and nothing really happens...

It only opens Displays in System preferences

Any help?

MacBook Pro, iOS 7.1, software problems, booting problems

You got the wrong cable!!! Thunderbolt was released in 2011 iMacs. Your 2010 27" iMac has a mini display port. You need a mini- display port cable to activate TDM with your iMac and your MBP.

    Thank You! It worked!

They said a Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable would work, as it is backwards compatible.

However, this wasn't the cause in my scenario
