However you did not indicate which app you use to scan, if you use HP's software which is awful at best, then I'd suggest first checking with HP to see that they support the device in Yosemite. If they do, please use Image Capture which is pre-installed on your Mac. If you are not familiar with IC then please click Mac Basics: Using a scanner - Apple Support

Oct 21, 2015 7:34 AM in response to rkaufmann87by Nkcohen,I Confirmed that my printer would worked with Yosemite before upgrading. My issue is random. It starts scanning then says can't complete. I am using the HP scan. I'll go back to image capture. I even did a Reset on the printer which was recommended by others in support. Do you think reloading print drivers would help?

I suspect your issue is the HP software. HP's software is not known for it's high quality or reliability. I think you are on the correct path by using Image Capture. Try that first then test, if it works there is no need to re-load any printer drivers.
