Question about Windows 10 activate with bootcamp

Hi boys.

I have a little question from BootCamp & Windows 10.

I want to install in my iMac late 2013 top (i7/16Gb/3Tb fusion/GTX 780M) Windows 10 using bootcamp. This is not a problem because El Capitan support Microsoft OS...

As you know, for install Windows 10, first there is to install Windows 7/8/8.1 and them update to Windows 10... Well, Windows 10 be activate with UEFI-ID or hardware ID. For example: In PC install Windows 10 update from other Windows SO and activate... If I want to format my HDD and want to install clean Windows 10 ISO, to install finish, Windows 10 automatically activate...

BootCamp not VM environment so... If erase BootCamp partition for my fault... Can I install Windows 10 ISO and this automatically activate?

Thanks, I hope you understand my question 🙂

I understand your question.

So, after Windows 7 or 8 is installed and Activated in Boot Camp. Yes, you can upgrade if your Windows 7 or 8 qualifies for the free upgrade. The Windows 10 Activation takes place upon completion of the upgrade. Memory upgrade or HDD change may or may not effect your activation. Your Windows 10 will be for your Mac Only. Non-Transferrable. You would have to purchase additional Windows 10 Product Keys for additional PC's.

Cheers!!

oh, really? It´s good news for me...

Yo see... In Microsoft forums, they din´tt know the answer... They said that my question It´s impossible because BootCam is a VM enviroment... They really haven´t any idea...

Thanks for yor answer. Tomorrow install Windows 8 Pro with my original key and update and them upgrade to Windows 10 for activate it... When Windows 10 It´s activate, I use my Windows 10 ISO to format and install clean process (using USB-ISO, I will not erase bootcamp partition from OSX). If after clean install with ISO, Windows 10 be activate, everything will be great! 🙂

I haven´t PC, only Mac plataform so I don´t want to lost my Windows 8 Pro key --> Windows 10 Free... Have 3Tb fusion, enough space to this 🙂

Las question...

So I upgrade for example 16Gb to 32Gb... Does Windows 10 loses license?

Tanks!!

Hi there!

Boot Camp is not a VM. Boot Camp prepares the Partition for installation and sets up the means for the Mac to boot from that Partition in and of itself. Microsoft Forums would not be the place for Boot Camp questions. That stated, Windows specific issues is what you need the MS Community or Forums for.

Once you get Windows 8 installed, setup and Apple Support Drivers installed and Windows 8 stable, upgrade. Use the Media Creation Tool available from Microsoft to create your Windows 10 Media AFTER UPGRADE.

You do not need to use the Media to "clean" install Windows 10. This is good news. Windows 10 has "Reset This PC". This is located in Start>Settings>Update & Security>Recovery. This tool can erase all files and folders and Windows 10 will reinstall itself. Good, right? Like resetting an iPhone!

You have 30 days after upgrading to revert back to Windows 8. After 30 days your Windows 8 product key will not work - Windows 10 cannot be reverted. 3 TB Fusion is more than enough for OS X and Windows. During Boot Camp Assistant you may want to split your HD or size it how you wish.

I upgraded my Mac Mini (late 2012) from 4 GB to the full 16 GB. This did not change my Windows 10 activation. Hope this helps out.

Cheers!!

I have got windows 10 working from a window 8.0 install. Windows 10 updated and worked fine on 100gb partition and 900gb Macintosh. It still said I needed to activate windows, so i tried to update maybe two weeks later (today), and it was set to boot to the Mac drive so when I entered in the activate key it booted and then went to Mac. Now when I boot windows it has the windows logo then goes to a black screen with my mouse arrow moving around, nothing loading...

can someone help me get around this without having to go through everything again... I had my windows programs running fine I just wanted the dang activate text to go away.
