Q: need the serial number for my stolen apple tv

I bought my Apple TV about a month ago.  It was recently stolen and I need the serial number for a police report.  I know I've logged in to something on Apple TV using my Apple ID.  I've also logged in to Netflix and You Tube from Apple TV.  Is there any way I can trace the serial number?

    Thanks Niel.  I have a 3rd generation so I can't find it in iTunes and the original box with receipt were stolen along with my Apple TV.  I DO have the wireless ID.  When I look at a picture of the box Apple TV comes in, it shows Wireless ID below the serial number.  Does anyone know if I can give the Wireless ID to the authorities so they can identify it when found?  I know who took the Apple TV but the officer asked for a serial number so it can be identified as my Apple TV.

    in iTunes on my computer preferences under the appletv tab my old appletv1g is still present and the tooltip of it in the grid display the serial number

    Did you buy it from Apple? If so they may well be able to issue the serial number.

     

    I guess most retailers could also probably issue a duplicate receipt if you knew roughly the purchase date and method of payment used.
