It seems you're having issues backing up your iPhone because you receive a message that something went wrong. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps to try:

A message says my backup could not be completed
- Make sure you're connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi.
- If possible, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network.
- See if you have enough iCloud storage for your backup, and get more storage if you need it.
- If you need more help, contact Apple Support.
