It think the OP is way beyond the return period. The $35 dollar fee is the restocking fee.

If you purchased it from Apple within 14 days, you can return it and buy one you prefer. If your past 14 days, you can sell the one you have and use the proceeds to purchase a different one. Or, just get a case in a different color. Tools tend to work the same regardless of color.
You'd need to ask Sprint what their return policy is. Some carriers charge a restocking fee.
And, as Meg said in her first post, how long ago you purchased your iPhone will affect the price, if any.
After all, the iPhone 6 was released in September, 2014. So if you've had your iPhone a significant length of time, you should naturally expect a "trade" to be more difficult, if not impossible.
