Q: keeping folders as albums

I haven't generally used iPhoto (bad early experience!).

For the most part, I am happy using a "year -> month-or-event" structure to keep my pictures organised.

There are a LOT of them now - over 250GB for the past 15 years....hence not on my local disk (beyond the current year) - they are on a separate hard disk from the persective of the app....so that may not always be plugged in.

Interested in whether the new photos app can "ingest" the metadata for them and give me any way to keep those folders as "albums within photos".

I do NOT want to pay lots on cloud storage - I am happy to manage my backups by simply keeping a remote disk up to date every now & then.   For the recent months, they live on my Mac (yosemite) and phone/cameras, so I am happy with that.

First look at it suggests the answer is no....which is okay, I can carry on managing things myself.

Any thoughts?

thanks

Mike
