Q: Script Editor "not responding" after update to El Capitan

Hi!

Cannot access/use Script Editor "Application not responding" after update to OS El Capitan from Yosemite. Working perfectly under Yosemite.

Anybody else with similar and should I re-install?

MacBook 6.1 (Late 2009)

OS X El Capitan  Version 10.11

    Hi tybach,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you want to use an app that will not launch. I would recommend you read this article, it should be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

    Hi! mario49

Many thanks for your direction regarding the "Script Editor" - Application Not Responding issue.

I will read through the documentation and try the troubleshooting mechanisms suggested.

I have already re-installed El Capitan Vn 10.11 as well as endeavouring to Restore Script Editor from the Backup. Neither resolved the issue.

I will report later as to what happens.

    Many thanks again

I have tried a number of approaches suggested by mario49 for which I thank you very much.

However, overnight I upgraded to OS X El Capitan Vn 10.11.1 and Script Editor returned to being accessible again from "Application Not Responding" state.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Regards

I had a problem with a Script Editor that was not responding even after a system reboot.  I found a file "com.apple.ScriptEditor2.plist" in /Users/username/Library/Autosave Information  that was marked as in-use even after force quitting Script Editor.  It seemed to be protected so I used Terminal to rename it and then Script Editor launched normally.  My suspicion is that this file got corrupted on a previous crash and then every subsequent launch would hang on trying to load this file.  So just get rid of it however you can and Script Editor should be ok.
