iPhone will ring out loud but will not play music out loud?

My iPhone 6+ which is less than a year old will not play music or sound out loud other than phone calls. All calls I can hear fine, even on speakerphone but not music. The phone is on iOS8.

WHen I take out the headphones the music continues playing but I can't hear it, almost like I never took the headphones out.

I have blown in to the headphone slot and even put a paperclip in there like I have seen suggested but no luck.

Could this be a software issue and will restoring the phone fix it?
