Q: Does any one know how to run a diagnostic test on a Macbook Pro?
Does anyone know how to run a diagnostic test on a MacBook Pro? My laptop is acting weird- by that I mean I press the on button and it take 6 times, other software is not running well, issues on the internet, unable to see the main menu bar at times.
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

System Report won't flag anything as being wrong; it shows what hardware you have but not whether it is properly working.
You need Apple Diagnostics or Apple Hardware Test depending on when your MBP was made. Information in this Apple article:
Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support
If these tests find anything wrong they show a cryptic code. You need to convey that code to Apple Support or a third-party authorized service provide for evaluation. Some of us here can translate then to a limited extent but an error messag from one fo those tests usually needs professional service.
Do not be tempted to download any anti-virus or so-called "cleaning/optimizing/tune-up" utilities to diagnose or fix your problem. They do more harm than good.
If the Apple Tests do not show any errors, please return here and report. We can work through possible software causes.
