Q: Upgrade iPhone 4S to higher than iOS 7.1.2?

I have iPhone 4S. My bank has an app that I need in order to see my accounts (called BankID). It requires iOS 8.0 but my phone has iOS 7.1.2 and says that there are no updates to be made. Can I not upgrade my iPhone 4S to more than 7.1.2?

If your phone states it can not be upgraded, you have an iPhone 4, not a 4S.
Please check the model number at: Settings - General - About - Model = ???

That is indeed an iPhone 4, which can not be upgraded further.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
