I recently upgraded to OS 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2. Now when I start Safari, my home page comes up and then the application quits. I can restart Safari and work normally, but when I log out of my user name, it puts me into the Darwin login prompt.
Also, after Safari quits I can not empty my trash until I have restarted. If I choose restart or shutdown instead of logging out, that works fine.
How did you Upgrade to 10.3.9? Safari in Panther is still not as stable as Safari in Tiger. It might not help your situation but that is the reality. Have you checked the disk with Disk Utility on the Install CD? Repaired permissions using Disk Utility on the hard drive?
Ran Disk Utility from the hard drive, but it did not resolve the problem. Did not find Disk Utility on the Install Disk. I upgraded to 10.3.2 from an original disk that came with a laptop I bought. Got to 10.3.9 via software update. I made a brand new user account and Safari works normally there, so it must be something incompatible coming forward from OS 10.2.x in the preferences of the old user accounts.
If the Panther 10.3.2 that came with the laptop is not a full retail version of Panther 10.3.2, then you can't install it on the Tower without problems.
