Calendar will not hold window size on restart

Calendar has always remembered its position in my case, but I had this problem with Messages. I finally solved it by unticking

System Preference- General -Close windows when quitting an app

It may be applicable to other apps that don't remember their position.

The suggestions on Re: calendar only opens half height since El Capitan relating to removing and adding an Exchange account did the trick for me. After removing my Exchange account, Calendar with the Calendars bar open saves and properly restores its Window size. And Calendar continues to save/restore its Window size after re-adding my Exchange account.

I figured out that all you have to do is set the window to the size and position you want, and then goto the Calendar menu and select Quit Calendar. Then from hence forth, it remembers the window position and size.

Unfortunately, jzondor, your fix doesn't work for me.

The problem still returns.

I will continue to keep the calendar sidebar hidden -- once hidden, it stays hidden.

Simple and easy and works every time.

Seems like a bug. Deleting the preference file for iCal doesn't fix this issue. The only fix is to hide the "Calendars" side bar on the left. Click the "Calendars" button on the upper left side of the iCal toolbar and hide the Calendars and the mini-month view and it will retain window size.

Hopefully a fix after WWDC.

I've been participating in the Mac OS beta program and submitted feedback about this issue about a month ago. I haven't had the problem with the currently-released build of 10.12. Hopefully that sticks for the official release. Looks like there's light at the end of this tunnel (at least for those whose Macs can handle Sierra)

I have also had a similar problem with Outlook for Mac 2011. That problem continues. Using "minimize" instead of "closing" the Outlook window is a very successful work-around.

Sidebar disappearing is not the issue in this thread.
