Apple has released OS 10.11.1
one of the key points on the updater from the App Store is that Apple claims the update it addresses compatibly issues with Office 2016

Yep, this was the only issue that had me waiting to install El Capitan. Don’t care whose problem it is/was just that it has been dealt with.
hopefully someone with issues and with 10.11 who upgrades will report back with their findings.
I don't have Office on this box but I'm patiently waiting for the DL to complete.
I work with Office 2016 (365 university) I hope later this week we can get a feedback on how this update is working. I won't go from Yosemite until this OS X is working OK.
I did not have issues before 10.11.1 and now I can't open spreadsheets. I have to force quit excel to close it, selecting quit in the dock does nothing.
