Installed 10.11.1 update. Have a minor weird thing happening.

Started the update to 10.11.1. When I returned I found my Macbook Pro had powered down. I pressed the power button and it eventually booted up to a screen saying "11 more minutes to install" (or something like that). It appeared to finish the install and everything now appears to be working fine.

But now in my App Store it still shows the 10.11.1 install available and ready to download. My App store icon on the doc has the red #1 on it showing the update is available. My "about this mac" shows that my Macbook Pro is running the 10.11.1 OS, so why is the App store app still showing that I need to install it?

OS X 10.11.1 has installed ok here but it's not showing up in the installed updates list?

The Mac App store has been acting strange since 10.11. I had a bunch of updates recently, they all installed but not all of them were added to the updated list.

Have you shut down and restarted your Mac to see if it clears the "Available Update" ? or try booting into Safe-Mode, maybe it's the Mac App Store Cache acting up.

This procedure will delete certain temporary and cache files used by the software update process. The files are automatically generated and don't contain any of your data. Occasionally they can become corrupt and cause problems such as yours.

Back up all data and read this whole message before doing anything.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n00000s0000068

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with a subfolder selected. The subfolder has a long name beginning with "zyx" and ending with "68". Move that subfolder to the Trash. Don't move any of the other subfolders with similar names. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Thanks, Linc!! I'm a little reluctant to do a reinstall since everything is running just great and the update shows in the computer profile. Also, I just did an update on ITunes that went perfectly. Is there a downside if I just leave it as it is? I hate to mess with everything OK and maybe apple will fix this in a future update? Again, thanks for your kind help!
