How do you switch iTunes Match on

Hi! I've uploaded all my music to iTunes Match, but how do I switch it on. Should there be a tab for it in one of the pull down menus. I'm not too savvy with this stuff, so probably I've missed something. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks Jim, and thanks also to defleppard too - I thought I was on my own with this problem!

Now Jim, I had already done what you said, but double checked anyhow. Now am I supposed to see a tab in any of the iTunes menus concerning iTunes Match?

Just to offer a little context I'm having to take everything off my laptop cos Windows 10 has messed things up. I want to feel confident that if I remove everything from my laptop that my iTunes library - playlists, album art and all the music - are safely in the cloud. Therefore I had a romantic notion, once matching had completed, of seeing a tab, like the one for 'Apple Music' in the 'Store' menu, somewhere in the menus. So far nothing.

Basically I just want to be able to click on it to see iTunes Match and confirm that its just as my normal iTunes library appears . . or is this not the case? Is all that's shown as far as iTunes Match is concerned are your songs either matched and uploaded - which all my songs are? this being the case can I now just use another device and use Match and see my library as if it were on that device?

I have to say I'm a minimal user of stuff and when I read the forums there's a lot of language that feels over my head. I'm a point and click guy and not 'lingo-ready' so to speak. So plain stage by stage stuff would be helpful as you've already done Jim.

Also, in the process of removing all my stuff and for extra measure I'm shifting my iTunes library on to WD MyCloud - which of course is another set of problems. Again Jim do you, or anyone have idea how to do this and retain playlists and album art intact. So far it's just been a huge mess and so I've removed it all of MyCloud in order to start again.

Cheers

Hi

Sorry Jim. I've gone through this web page before. I think the main problem is I don't have anything in any of my menus on the iTunes hub hat enables to me to turn on or even interact with iTunes Match. Looking at screen shots there should be something there to click on. So now I'm subscribed to something I can't interact with.

Thanks for you help, but I think I'm going to have to take it in to the unhelpful Apple store itself, unless you have a further suggestion. At this moment I'm wondering why I even bothered with this iTunes lark in the first place.

Thanks

Marc

Hi,

Go to preferences> general and make sure iCloud music library is checked. To update, go to menu > library > select update iCloud Music library.

If you don't see these options make sure that you are signed into itunes.

If you din't see these options, sign into your iTunes store account and select iTunes match.

Thanks again,

Done all that but after I click on update iCloud music library it updates, I can see everything matched or uploaded but still nothing further in the menu's. I take it on your iTunes you actually have a 'iTunes match' you can click on in your 'store' menu on the 'My Music' screen, or somewhere on that screen? Or is this my assumption?

Now I can see iTunes Match when I go to the actual 'iTunes store' screen. It's under 'Apple Music Festival', but when I click on that it just asks to add my computer, which I've done a dozen times with no effect.

I remember seeing somewhere that it might be Apple Music which may be blocking it, but I don't know how to disable it. I've tried unticking it in 'preferences', but again there's no difference.

Hi,

There is no longer any reference to iTunes Match once you have subscribed. It is now referred to as iCloud music library. If you have checked icloud music in preferences and can select updated iCloud music library and your library updates, you match account is active.

In song view with iCloud status column adde, you will see if the music has matched, uploaded, purchased, ineligible or duplicate. If you see waiting, it means that match has not yet processed the track.

Hi again,

Ah thanks Jim! Right, thanks for being patient with me - this is what I wanted to know, sorry it took so long to get there. So it seems everything is okay. My last question is then - will all my playlists will be in the iCloud music library too? Seems obvious but just checking.
