Q: El Capitan 10.11.1 did´t improve anything for Aperture users

Yesterdays update of OS X did not solve our problems with on screen proofing or upside down display of thumbs in list view.

Please keep reporting your issues with Aperture back to Apple. They have to notice us someday.

I would like to know if anybody does not have problems with on screen proofing. Adding your macs specs, especially graphic cards would be helpful.

My machine is an Macbook Air i7 with integrated Intel HD graphics 3000 (used on location. I did not upgrade my MacPro yet because I don't want to break my workhorse).

Thank you and the

Best, Eberhard

That would be because Aperture was dropped sometime back and is no longer being developed. You will see no more support for it, except for dwindling support as OSXs continue to update. Sorry, but tis has been widely publicised for some time.

While it is true that Aperture has been discontinued, it is still very important to report problems we encounter with new OS releases. In the case of the but with on screen proofing, the problem is not within Aperture, but within the engine that runs ColorSync (and can be reproduced there, and in other apps). Quite frequently, the problems we observe in Aperture are system level problems that Apple will fix if they are reported.

The Mac toolbox is very, very vast and difficult to thoroughly test, as there are all kinds of obscure, complex capabilities that, perhaps, only a handful of applications will ever call. It's not uncommon at all for these things to break, unnoticed, with a new software release, and they won't be fixed unless reported.

So, yes, please continue to report problems.

I have been having issues with RAW files from my Sony RX-100 for several months with Aperture in y Macbook Pro (2011). The pictures show up completely jumbled with colored blocks in preview , but also when exported as JPG , so it is not just a preview issue

Before El Capitan the only way to get it working again was to delete the RAW Camera bundle from the Library and re-install an older version that worked (5.04).

I had hoped with El Capitan that this problem would be solved, as it is a system issue, not an Aperture issue.

With the initial versions of El Capitan everything worked fine again, but this morning all pictures are jumbled again, the only difference being that this time the exported JPG is OK. I can no longer find the RAW package in the library (I suppose El Capitan works differently), so I am at a loss how to fix this now.

I am conscious that Aperture is no longer supported, and that is fine by me (although I paid some €80 for it) but that is not the same as allowing it to break down so I can no longer use it.

Just bought a Sony RX100 and was hoping to process RAW files in El Capitan...but your message appears to indicate that  Photos will continue to convert these to .jpgs. Have you found any good way to process RAW files?

    Thanks

Is this about Aperture where you posted or Photos that you start in your text? (there is a Photos for Mac forum)

Photos does not convert anything - it copies the original (RAW or JPEG) bit for bit and always keeps that exactly as is unmodified - it does create a JPEG preview and thunmbnail
