iOS 9.1 unable to install update

When I try to install the newest iOS update, I click "Install now" and it says it is verifying. Then a message pops up saying "Unable to install update. An error occurred installing update" I have storage on my phone as well as plenty of battery, I even have my phone plugged in to the charger. Not sure what the issue is

Make sure that there is no security software running in the background.

Like norton or kaspersky. Temporarily disable them.

  1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Windows Firewall.
  2. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. ...
  3. Click Off (not recommended), and then click OK.

Then try doing the update via iTunes.

Let me know if that helps? Are you getting an error code number?

Update... I ended up trying to install the 9.1 update on my Mac via iTunes. That failed at around 50% into the install. Tried it on my PC...same issue. Called Apple Care and they told me I had to restore my phone...I didn't think much of it since I had everything backed up so we tried and that and....FAIL AGAIN! I ended up getting an error (53) which ended up being a hardware issue. My phone had to completely be replaced.

I'm not sure if the update caused the issue or was just a symptom of a hardware failure but never the less, it was a hardware issue where my phone had to be replaced. If you are having this issue then it might be the same thing
