Try booting with verbosity on so you can watch what is happening during startup. If you have a camera you can take snapshots/video of the output.
Use these steps to start up your Mac in single-user mode or verbose mode:
- Shut down your Mac.
- Press the power button to start up your Mac.
- Immediately hold down the following keys:
- Hold down Command-S for single-user mode.
- Hold down Command-V for verbose mode.
